Hi, I’m Michael.

I teach bass and guitar in San Francisco’s Sunset District. I want lessons to help you build skills and feel good about making music.

You don’t need to learn a certain way

We all get stuck sometimes. If an explanation isn’t making sense, I’d rather hear about it so we can try something else. We might listen first, play together, slow a part down, or look at it from another angle.

Your interests matter, too. Tell me what you listen to, what you’d love to play, or what made you curious about the instrument. We can use that as a starting point and see where it takes us.

Room to ask questions

I teach kids ages 8 and up and adults, from people picking up an instrument for the first time to players with something specific they want to work on. There’s room to experiment, make mistakes, and revisit things. You don’t have to pretend you understand something just to keep a lesson moving.

For a child, I’d love to hear what catches their interest. For an adult, we can talk about what you want from music now and what fits into your week. The goal is to keep learning without losing the enjoyment that brought you here.
