Guitar lessons in San Francisco

What made you want to pick up a guitar? A song you love is a perfectly good place to start.

I’m Michael Cloutier. I teach private guitar lessons for kids ages 8 and up and adults in San Francisco’s Sunset District. You can be brand new, coming back after years away, or looking for help with something specific.

Let’s find what works for you

Some things make more sense when you hear them. Others click when you slow them down and try them a few times. We’ll pay attention to how you learn and adjust as we go. You can ask the same question twice. You can tell me when an explanation isn’t helping.

For beginners, that might mean getting comfortable holding the guitar, finding a few chords, and working on a rhythm you can play along with. If you already play, bring the song, technique, or musical question you’ve been working on. We’ll work out where to begin together.

Something to play between lessons

I want you to leave with something you understand and want to come back to. We can talk about what practice fits into your week and choose a manageable next step. Building skills matters, and so does feeling good about spending time with your instrument.

Studio, Zoom, or a home visit
